Namibia

This is a beautiful country I have only been here a day, only scratched the surface of what it is, but if this is the taster then I’m in. Endless views, desert landscapes, occasional hills made from tumbled up rocks like sweepings from a giant’s spring clean. The heat is a constant companion and our 30 degrees is set to climb over the next few days.

As I sit outside my lodge writing this in the dawning day, there is a stillness in the landscape that inspires exploration. It draws you into it with a whispered “come and see..”come and see”.

Today we carry on a sand-dusted tracks to Fish River Canyon, apparently the second largest in the world. From there we have 300km to our next stop and our first break in Aus.

But before that breakfast, and before that shower and pack. But before that I will sit here for 10 mins, excited and still at the same time by nothing more than sand, scrub, tumbly hills and a landscape that goes on forever. “Come and See….”
